NOTICE OF AN ACQUISITION OF A BENEFICIAL INTEREST IN TRUWORTHS SECURITIES

Truworths advises shareholders in terms of Section 122(3)(b) of the Companies Act, (Act 71 of
2008), as amended ("Companies Act") and paragraph 3.83(b) of the JSE Limited Listings
Requirements, that the company has received a notification in terms of section 122(1)(a) of the
Companies Act that Sanlam Investment Management (Pty) Ltd ("Sanlam"), acting as agent of its
clients, has acquired a beneficial interest in the company's securities ("the acquisition").

Following the acquisition, Sanlam now holds 5.05% of the issued ordinary shares of the company.

As required in terms of section 122(3)(a) of the Companies Act, Truworths will file the required
notices with the Takeover Regulation Panel and the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission.

The board of directors of Truworths accepts responsibility for the information contained in this
announcement and certifies that, to the best of its knowledge and belief, the information contained
in this announcement is true and that there are no facts that have been omitted which would make
any statement in this announcement false or misleading and that this announcement contains all
information required by law and the JSE Limited Listings Requirements.
